JANAKPURDHAM: Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) today lifted the Pashupati Paints National Hockey Tournament tiltle prevailing over Far-western Development Region in penalty shootout after an intense final battle.
Both teams were unable to score in the regular 70 minutes and after a goalless 15-minute of extra time, TAC defeated Far-west 4-2 in extra time for the title. Along with the trophy, TAC bagged a purse of Rs 75,000 and runners-up Far-west took home Rs 40,000. Third placed Central Development Region got Rs 25,000 and Eastern Region took Rs 10,000 for their fourth-place finish.
In the final match held at the Janakpur Cigaratte Factory, Dipendra Ayer, Ram Shah, Ranjit Rawat and Amit Srivastav were on target for the departmental team. Only Kantu Ram Paneru and Suresh Joshi managed to score from the spot for Far-west. Dipendra was also adjudged the best player of the tournament that won him a purse of Rs 10,000.
