KATHMANDU: The disable athletes of Nepal will get 11 Sports Wheelchairs from the Wheelchair Athletes Worldwide (WAW) when the America NGO visits here for Nepal Wheelchair Sports Clinic and Tournament beginning from May 10-12.
The three-day programme aims at strengthening the mental, physical and social outlook and build capacity of disabled individuals apart from encouraging the public to become involved in creating more inclusion. To materialise the goal, Nepal will be provided with modern, competitive and newer sports wheelchairs to use in adaptive sports programmes apart from organising the interactive clinics and inviting public for the programme.
WAW President Dan Altan will be attending the programme. The Wheelchair Sports Clinic and Tournament is jointly organised by various NGOs including Nepal Wheelchair Rugby Association (NWRA), Nepal Spinal Injury Sports Association, Nepal Physiotherapy Association, Bikash Nepal, VSO Nepal and ENGAGE. CRSC, Nepal Paralympic Committee and National Sports Council are also helping the three-day programme.
Dragon Air/Cathay Pacific, Chaudhary Group, Bottlers Nepal, International College of Hospitality Management, Media Gallery, Force along with Nature Trail Travels and Tours are the corporate partners. The Himalayan Times is the official media partner.
