Tashi defends Shikhar Insurance Cup

KATHMANDU: Lobsang Tashi defended the title of the Shikhar Insurance Cup Golf Tournament here at the Gokarna Golf Club today.

Played under stableford 3/4 handicap format over 18 holes, the four-handicap amateur Tashi accumulated 39 points to win the title for the second straight year. He scored 22 points on the front nine that included birdies on the second and third holes. Tashi added 17 on the back nine.

Gopal Chitrakar finished second on count back after he was tied on 38 points with Subodh Thapa. Chitrakar scored 19 points on either halves, while third-placed Subodh scored 21 and 17 on the front and back nines respectively. Vijay Shrestha Einhaus won the best gross award with 35 points.

Rekha Ghimire won the women’s section title with 28 points, while Dr Rita Thapa came second with 27 points. Aditi Ghimire claimed the junior section award with 35 points, whereas Lt Gen KNS Thapa won the senior section trophy with 37 points. TG Shrestha won the longest drive and Kim Byung Taek bagged closest-to-the-pin award.

Off the course, Dr Rajan Amatya, Sushil Sharma and Jyotsana Shrestha won the door prizes sponsored by Green Line Centre, while Raju Neupane bagged the vehicle insurance upto four million rupees on lucky draw. 

A total of 124 golfers took part in the second edition of the tournament sponsored by Shikhar Insurance Company Limited. Chairman of the company Bikash SJB Rana, Chief Executive Officer Dip Prakash Pandey and President of Gokarna Golf Club Suhrid Ghimire among others handed over the prizes to the winners.
